Where to Stay in North Conway, NH: Best Neighborhoods

When you look at pictures of North Conway, it looks like a small town, but there’s actually a lot of sprawl to it. Most people get around North Conway and the White Mountains by driving, though the downtown area of North Conway Village is walkable.

If you plan on exploring the White Mountains in depth, you can stay in any part of North Conway or surrounding towns, but if you plan on spending a lot of time in North Conway in particular, we recommend staying within walking distance of North Conway Village. Zeb’s General Store is close to the geographic center, so we suggest using this as a guideline.

Otherwise, with a car, you’ll have easy access all over North Conway and the surrounding area. Some people choose to stay south of town in Conway, at one end of the Kancamagus Highway. Others go just north of North Conway to Intervale, or even further to Jackson and smaller towns.

The decision is yours. There’s no perfect way to have a North Conway trip!

Best Luxury Hotel in North Conway, NH: Cranmore Inn

North Conway is blessed when it comes to upscale inns and B&Bs, and the Cranmore Inn is the loveliest of them all. This B&B is within walking distance of North Conway’s quaint downtown, which is a must when wanting to be immersed in the local scene.

You’ll find a total of about 15 cozy rooms and suites. Accommodations range from small, single bedrooms to two-room suites. The most extravagant carriage house suite contains a full kitchen, complete with dishwasher, for those who wish to have the comforts of home.

The Cranmore Inn has an outdoor recreation area containing a small swimming pool and fire pit. The hot tub is a must after a day of adventuring in the White Mountains. Your hosts Eddie and Christopher provide a hearty breakfast for guests with fresh coffee before sending you on your way to experience the White Mountains.

More luxury options in North Conway: The Buttonwood Inn on Mount Surprise is another classic New Hampshire inn, although it is a bit farther from downtown North Conway Village — which might be just what you’re looking for! 

And for those seeking a full-service luxury resort, stay at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, which is about a 40-minute drive away from North Conway. This historic hotel is widely regarded as the best luxury resort in New Hampshire.

Best Mid-Range Hotel in North Conway, NH: Kearsarge Inn

We couldn’t ask for a more perfect location for the Kearsage Inn: right in the heart of North Conway with excellent walkability around North Conway Village. The Kearsage is a lively little inn with several dining options within stumbling distance, including Deacon House next door, a martini and whiskey bar with live acoustic music and a freshly prepared menu.

Accommodations at the Kearsage Inn range from budget-friendly studios to luxurious penthouse suites, so no matter what type of budget you’re on, Kearsage Inn should definitely be on your radar. The rooms at Kearsage Inn are clean and comfortable. Beds are draped with cozy quilts while some walls have artwork featuring local attractions.

Some rooms have gas fireplaces to knock off the chill of New Hampshire evenings, while others have private deck areas on which to enjoy your morning coffee. We have to mention the wonderful staff as well, because they truly embody the hospitality and spirit of North Conway.

More mid-range accommodation in North Conway: Another moderately priced option is the Briarcliff Motel. The Briarcliff is generally regarded a nice hotel that balances simpler amenities with a lower price. It’s centrally located as well, which is a nice tradeoff when you’re looking for a balance of price and convenience.

Best Budget Hotel in North Conway, NH: Colonial Motel

If you’re traveling on a budget in North Conway, you want a simple, safe, and clean place to stay, and the Colonial Motel delivers. You could walk to downtown North Conway if you wanted to from here, but most people choose to drive.

The rooms at Colonial Motel are simply furnished and offer little in the way of niceties other than recently updated restrooms. Some rooms have in-room jacuzzi tubs, which is a nice way to knock off the chill after a day exploring North Conway.

The Colonial Motel boasts a modest pool to enjoy in summer months and a mini fridge in each room, which is handy for both kids and adults alike.

More budget hotels in North Conway: Another solid budget option in North Conway is the Swiss Chalet Village Inn. This adorable inn gives off gingerbread house vibes — albeit somewhat dated — with generous amenities in some suites, like a full kitchen and fireplace.

Best Hostel in North Conway, NH: COHO: Conway Hostel

While technically located in the town of Conway, COHO: Conway Hostel is fabulous hostel popular with hikers passing through the area. If this hostel looks familiar, you may recognize it by its former name, the White Mountains Hostel.

Conway Hostel is only a seven-minute drive from North Conway, not to mention a two-minute drive from Tuckerman Brewery, home to some of our favorite beers in the White Mountains. 

COHO has lots of shared spaces and is a great option to meet fellow hikers in these community areas. Rooms are currently all private and sport a combination of bunk beds and larger, queen-sized beds. Bathrooms are shared, so be sure to keep your flip-flops handy.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love COHO’s nearby river access and short walk to hiking trails during the lush summer and gorgeous fall.

Best Boutique Hotel in North Conway, NH: Adventure Suites

You’ll never forget your stay at the Adventure Suites in North Conway. Everyone who drives by this kooky place remembers it — and — the suites are as decorated on the outside as they are on the inside! Not what you might expect in a small New England town!

Suites vary greatly from one another, with perhaps one of its most notable being a 1970’s “Love Shack.” Other themes include ancient Rome, an actual indoor treehouse, a jungle-themed suite, a cave suite, and a Victorian suite. These over-the-top accommodations must be seen to be believed!

Adventure Suites is a one-of-a-kind place, and amenities vary widely depending on the suite. Most suites have details like a full-sized hot tub, while others have unique features like a light-up dancefloor, or a 10-foot projection screen along with a library of over 2,000 DVDs for an in-suite movie night.

Best Hotel for Families in North Conway, NH: Red Jacket Mountain View Hotel

Ready to be parent of the year? Consider the Red Jacket Mountain View Hotel. The biggest reason? It has its own indoor waterpark and arcade! Talk about hitting the vacation lottery!

Best Hotels Near North Conway, NH

While we love North Conway, you don’t necessarily need to stay right in town to enjoy the area. Here are a few of our favorite alternative options near North Conway.

The Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods is about 40 minutes from North Conway. This hotel has a lot of history and is consistently regarded as the best luxury resort in the Granite State, with tons of activities no matter what time of year it is. The views of Mount Washington are spectacular.

Jackson is one of our favorite small towns in New Hampshire, a quiet hamlet just north of North Conway. It’s a solid option if you want a quieter getaway. There are lots of top-notch B&Bs here, including the Wildcat Inn and Tavern and the Inn at Jackson

The Glen House is located on the northern edge of the White Mountains in Gorham, New Hampshire, about an hour from North Conway. It’s a big resort and very much a destination to its own. It’s fairly isolated, perfect for relaxing, and boasts incredible views.
